Vox Venti

Executive Director, Ed Frazier Davis and Artistic Director, Matthew Recio

Fifth concert season

Est. 2022

Vox Venti, founded by Executive Director Ed Frazier Davis in 2022 and led by Artistic Director, Matthew Recio, is a semi-professional choral ensemble of 40 singers, chosen by competitive audition, from the Chicago-land area. Each season, they present four concerts of unique, diverse, and emotionally powerful choral repertoire. Vox Venti takes pride in performing a limitless variety of choral styles with equal diligence and mastery, but has a special affinity and passion for music by living composers. This unique ensemble is proudly dedicated to commissioning one new choral work by a composer from an underrepresented demographic for each concert. Vox Venti has a mission to build a more balanced and diverse choral music canon through support of modern choral composers and is very proud to premiere the first and second place winners of the Institute for Choral Creativity annual composition contest. Vox Venti translates from Latin to “Voice of the Wind,” representing both the ability of the human voice to emulate a vast range of timbres and the diversity of the Windy City.
