Voces Festivas

Leilani Velasco-Vaughn, Music Director

Sixth annual concert season, 2026–2027

Est. 2022

Voces Festivas, Kansas City’s only Spanish choir, fills a unique niche, led by Mexican-American Leilani Velasco Vaughn. Voces Festivas’ mission is to encourage Hispanics to realize that this music exists and to help them identify with it and to pull them closer to their culture… to the music of their heritage. Although rehearsals are conducted in Spanish, as an immersive experience, English speakers are welcome.

Voces Festivas is a non-auditioned choir (music reading skills are not required), learning music from a variety of Spanish countries including Mexico, Colombia, Spain, Argentina, and Peru, and often performed with traditional percussion and guitar. The Navidad con Voces Festivas concert is treasured by the Spanish community at Christmas each year, performed in the Argentine neighborhood of Kansas City, Kansas. The ensemble also performs at local Kansas City festivals, including Cinco de Mayo at the Guadalupe Center and the Hispanic Month Celebration at the Johnson County Arts and Heritage Center in Overland Park, Kansas.
