Chip Handrich MME

Chip Handrich was appointed Music Director of the Northland Summer Singers in 2026. A native of Canton, Ohio, he holds a Bachelor of Music Education in voice from Friends University and a Master of Music Education from Wichita State University. He also studied at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music’s Institute of Voice Performance Pedagogy under Dr. Richard Miller and has completed all levels of Somatic Voicework — The LoVetri Method — at Shenandoah Conservatory.
He has been tenor soloist for the Wichita Choral Society’s Messiah, later serving as conductor and artistic director of that ensemble. He has appeared as soloist with the Peoria Bach Festival and the Frederick Bach Festival, performed as tenor soloist in Mozart’s Requiem, and sang in the quintet from Mendelssohn’s Psalm 42 at the Luther 500 Choral Festival under Helmuth Rilling. He currently sings with the William Baker Festival Singers.
He has served as a church choir director and worship pastor for more than 45 years. Since January 2018 he has been Associate Pastor of Worship and Music at Second Baptist Church in Liberty, Missouri, where the Northland Summer Singers rehearse and perform. He joined the Institute for Healthy Singing as a fellow in 2026.
