The Board of Trustees and the Music Staff of the William Baker Choral Foundation in Atlanta appointed Thomas Dixon of Stone Mountain, Georgia, as Music Director & Conductor of the Summer Singers of Atlanta and Music Director of the New South Festival Singers, the Atlanta-based semi-professional chorale specializing in short-form sacred a cappella classics, new works, and spirituals, in addition to annual performances of major choral-orchestra masterworks.

Mr. Dixon took the reins as Music Director & Conductor of the Choral Foundation’s oldest ensemble on June 1, 2025, beginning leadership of the Festival Singers with the 2025–2026 41st concert season.

He holds the Bachelor of Music Education (Voice) from Mansfield University of Pennsylvania, the Master of Music in Choral Conducting from Georgia State University, where he was a student of Dr. Deanna Joseph and Dr. Patrick Freer, and the Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of Georgia, studying with Dr. Daniel Bara and Dr. Sarah Frook Gallo. He is a recipient of the Robert Shaw Choral Scholar Award (2022), a 2023 Conducting Scholar through the Chorus America Choral-Orchestral Academy in Fullerton, California, and a 2019 grant recipient from the Charlottesville Area Community Foundation. In July 2023 he was conductor for the Northwestern Bach Academy in Evanston, Illinois.

He presently serves as Music Director for Central Presbyterian Church in downtown Atlanta. Previously he served as Music Director for Oconee Street United Methodist Church in Athens, Georgia, and as Family Service Coordinator and Handbell Director for the Episcopal Church of Our Savior in Charlottesville, Virginia. He makes his home in Stone Mountain.
